Photographer and artist Antonio Bartczak was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
In 1964, Bartczak’s family immigrated to Chicago, Illinois. Bartczak studied film at Columbia College and later worked as the public relations photographer for the Chicago Public Library. He also photographed extensively while traveling throughout the United States, Europe and the Middle East.In 1980,Bartczak opened Oculus, a photography studio specializing in fashion and portraiture, The studio evolved into Oculus Gallery, where he exhibited his photographs and began to create works in other media, including miniature wood and metal chair sculptures.
